Copy Editing

During a copy edit we will help improve the readability and overall quality of your document.

​

During the copy editing process we will:

​

• Rewrite for audience suitability

• Provide sentence level editing

• Check usage of tense

• Provide fact checking

• Layout checking

• Chapter sequencing

• Check spelling, grammar and punctuation

• Suggest improvements to your document

Proofreading

​

Proofreading is the final read-through before publishing to find any typos or errors that might have been missed. No major changes will be made to your document at this point. 

​

During a proofread we will look for things such as:

​

• Spelling, punctuation and grammar errors

• Correct page and table numbering

• Layout check

• Style inconsistencies

 

 

What we can proofread & edit?

 

We can edit in UK or US English, and you can submit a 500 word document for a sample edit.

​

We can edit on screen in Microsoft Word using Track Changes, in Scrivener using the comments feature, or on a hard copy using BSI markup symbols. You will also be provided with a style guide sheet and we use the Guardian Style Guide unless instructed otherwise.

​

For US clients we use, The Chicago Manual of Style.
